4 Sustainable Brands to Try

Sep 14, 2021
As consumers, how we shop and eat plays a huge role in our environmental impact, and current practices are a huge stress on our planet. However, consumer demand is a major driver of brands moving to more sustainable practices, and it’s within our power to make an impact.
At Trash Panda, we love celebrating brands that make delicious food that’s not only good for our health, but also beneficial to our planet. This week, we’ve rounded up some brands that are putting sustainability front and center.

Maple Hill Creamery

Maple Hill Creamery is the largest 100% grass-fed organic dairy company in the US. Their farms are committed to regenerative farming, the ethical treatment of animals, and sustainability. Maple Hill believes that regenerative farming practices are integral in healing our climate. With regenerative farming, 100% grass-fed cows put carbon back into the soil, offsetting greenhouse gas emissions and improving the health of the soil and pastures. In addition to milk, Maple Hill produces kefir and yogurt. You can find them at Whole Foods.

Clif Bar

Clif Bar, best known for their energy bars, has been widely recognized for its sustainable manufacturing processes. In addition to their LEED Platinum-certified “green” headquarters and zero-waste bakeries, the company uses 100% sustainably sourced, organic ingredients, has eco-friendly, packaging, and has invested over $10M in organic farming research. They also don’t use any synthetic colors or flavors, high fructose corn syrup, or GMOs.

Jeni's Splendid

Jeni’s Splendid is a Certified B Corporation, meaning they meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Jeni’s was one of the first ice cream companies to source only compostable bowls, spoons, and napkins in their shop, and now 95% of what customers buy in their shops is reusable, recyclable, or compostable. We also love their focus on using Direct Trade and Fair Trade ingredients.

Boochcraft

Hard kombucha is one of our favorite ways to kick back with a beverage on the weekends, and is a better-for-you option thanks to its probiotics. Boochcraft believes that sustainability is non-negotiable, and they take steps to put the planet at the center of everything they do. They compost 100% of their fruit scraps, divert waste from local landfills and turn it into organic compost for local farmers, and installed a water recapture resulting in savings of over 1000 gallons of freshwater per day. The brand also donates to the organization 1 Percent For The Planet to nonprofits that support environmental sustainability. Be sure to try their products like this Grapefruit Hibuscus Heather.
