Kroger is one of our favorite places to shop for reasonably priced groceries. They also offer a wide selection of #TrashPandaApproved brands and products, so we’re sharing a few of our recommendations. Kroger carries health-conscious brands like GT’s and Dave’s Killer Bread, and also has its own store brand of organic products called “Simple Truth Organic” that help us find the good stuff at a good price. Let us know if you’ve tried the brands on our list or share some of your finds from Kroger on our Instagram!
Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed Bread
While this bread does have some sugar in it, it’s got tons of great ingredients like organic whole wheat, whole flax seeds, organic sunflower seeds, and organic steel cut oats. We love it for sandwiches and avocado toast. Another option is Dave’s Powerseed variety, which is sweetened with only fruit juices and is also delicious! You can also find Dave’s at Costco, Target, or Amazon.
Safe Catch Pure Wild Tuna
Canned tuna is a convenient way to get high quality protein, but it’s important to know the source. Safe Catch uses 100% sustainably caught wild tuna, and touts that they have the lowest mercury of any brand. We like to mix it with a little Primal Kitchen mayo and some Dijon mustard and eat it on our Dave’s Killer bread or some Mary’s Gone Crackers for lunch or a snack! Also available on Amazon.
Simple Truth Organic Garbanzo Beans
There are tons of great Simple Truth Organic products at Kroger, so we decided to highlight a couple of the staples that are always on our list. We love the chickpeas because they only have three simple ingredients: organic chickpeas, sea salt, and water. We always have a few cans of these stocked in our pantry for quick meals!
Simple Truth Organic Double Concentrated Tomato Paste
Another pantry staple, we love buying our tomato paste from Kroger in these tubes. It’s so much more convenient than the cans, and easy to use just the right amount without wasting any! This is also one of the only tube varieties we’ve found that’s organic, even when searching at higher end grocery stores. It’s made in Italy with non-GMO tomatoes, and the only other ingredient is salt.
Silk Unsweetened Cashew Milk
We searched hard for the most #TrashPandaApproved dairy-free milk at Kroger. You have to keep an eye out for ingredients like carrageenan and xanthan gum that are used in many dairy free milks, but Silk comes out on top with just one questionable ingredient (natural flavors). It’s delicious as a smoothie base or mixed into coffee.
You can’t go wrong with any of the GT’s flavors, but our favorites are Trilogy and Gingerade. We love that you can find the huge 48oz bottles at Kroger, which are a better price and less packaging waste than buying the individual bottles (you can tell we drink a lot of this!) GT’s is one of our favorite kombucha brands since they don’t use any questionable ingredients such as sugar substitutes, which show up in some other brands.
We’d love to hear from you about your favorite #TrashPandaApproved grocery finds at Kroger, and we know other Trash Pandas would too! Head over to our Instagram to share what’s on your Kroger shopping list.
