About Bachan's

Bachan's makes Japanese barbecue sauces, dipping sauces and Japanese-style mayo, built on a family recipe handed down from the founder's grandmother — "bachan" is Japanese for grandma. Across the range the sauces start from traditionally brewed soy sauce seasoned with mirin, ginger, garlic and green onion, and the brand cold-fills its bottles.

Founded by Justin Gill in Sebastopol, California, and acquired by The Marzetti Company in 2026. Bachan's continues to be sold under its own name.
