The Most Scanned Products in Trash Panda

Nov 11, 2022
Happy Trash Panda Tuesday! This week, we’re taking a look at the products you’re most curious about. We collected a list of the top most scanned products so far this year. We’re breaking down what they are, what’s inside, and what a better swap may be.
Plus, we’re using our new list feature to add the Trash Panda Approved products from this list (and our swaps for the ones that aren’t) to a premium list. Want access to premium lists? Become a TP Member to enjoy all the perks and support us in the process.
Without further ado, here are the products we’re all curious about (note: bottled water cracked the top 10, so that was omitted for obvious reasons… the only ingredient is water. We like the skepticism, though.)

Dave's Killer Powerseed Bread

Both Dave’s Killer Bread and Food for Life’s Sprouted Grain Bread were high on the list of the most scanned products this year. We believe the reason for this is that finding a good bread alternative can be extremely difficult, and even when you think you’re making the right choice, ingredients may tell you otherwise. Both of these brands have our stamp of approval!

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides

We were thrilled to see Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides top the list of most scanned products. Not only is this product Trash Panda approved, but we love talking about it every chance we get. Keep scanning this one for some green checkmarks!

Oatly Original Oatmilk

Similar to bread, non-dairy alternatives can be deceiving and unclear (see: buying almond-milk). For this reason, both Oatly Oat-Milk and Califia Farms Oat Milk were frequently scanned this year. While there are certainly options with more additives, our pick for oat milk would be Three Trees or Malk.

Chocolate Sea Salt RX Bar

RX Bars are known for having their ingredients right on the front of their packaging. But what’s missing from these lists? Natural flavors, chocolate, and cocoa. While you’d expect to see the chocolate and cocoa in a chocolate protein bar - it’s still is good to have all the facts.

Kodiak Buttermilk Protein Flapjacks

Kodiak buttermilk pancakes are a good source of protein and their ingredients are nothing to be worried about (we would like to note the monocalcium phosphate, however.) That said, if you’re looking for something completely TP approved, we’d go for Simple Mills protein pancake mix.

Hippeas Vegan Cheddar Puffs

Hippeas are delicious - and while their packaging may suggest only the best ingredients, the use of citric acid, sunflower oil, and canola oil definitely catch our attention. For this reason, we’d recommend Lesser Evil’s Paleo Puffs instead.

Celsius Sparkling Wild Berry

It makes sense that one of the most scanned products in the last year is one of the most popular products around right now (and one of the products where potentially the least is known about their ingredients.) We flag sucralose, natural flavor, and citric acid in this wildberry drink and you can read more about it in our blog post here.
